“Mary, Icon of the Church”

Join us for the first Speaker Series of the semester. On this Feast of the Assumption, we will begin the talk after the conclusion of the Holy Day Mass at 6:15pm.

Dr. Jim Lee will be our guest speaker this month and he will be discussing the Feast of the Assumption and Mary as the icon of the Church.

Dr. Jim Lee is Associate Professor of the History of Early Christianity at the Perkins School of Theology at SMU. He also serves as the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program. Jim received his B.A. in theology from the University of Notre Dame, his M.A. in Church History from the Catholic University of America, and his Ph.D. in the history of Christianity from the University of Notre Dame. He has been on the faculty at SMU for 7 years, where he teaches courses on church history and on topics such as Early Christian Interpretation of the Bible, The History of Christian Mysticism, and The Theology of St Augustine. Jim and his wife Anna were married at St. Thomas Aquinas in 2016, and they have a two year old daughter named Mary Margaret.

5:00-6:00 - Confessions
6:15pm - Holy Day Mass
7:15pm - Gather in Upper School Drama Room
7:30pm - Talk begins
9:00pm - Head to unofficial gathering spot
