St. Thomas Aquinas Young Adults piloted this Next Step Course in the Fall of 2018 and we will be hosting another course beginning in January 2019. Next Step is hosted by Discerning Marriage, a support ministry for those single or dating to intentionally pursue the call to Marriage.
We begin the next course on Thursday, January 24, 2019. The course runs for each consecutive Thursday for 8-weeks.
"Next Step was created as an intentional discernment program because pursuing further knowledge for the sake of a deeper discernment of marriage is simply the next step in a dating relationship. Next Step is an 8 week program that walks participants through the elements of proximate preparation as designated by Pope St. John Paul II. Participants will be paired with a mentor couple who will accompany them through the program and who will become a trusted resource for knowledge about marriage and family life. Next Step provides those single or seriously dating an opportunity to intentionally discern marriage. You will be placed in a small group with the same mentor couple each week for the 8 weeks. Each small group will have 6-8 young adults along with the mentor couple.
For singles: We highly encourage this course for those that are single and intentionally wanting to learn more about this sacrament. You will be placed in a small group with other same gendered single young adults as well.
For dating couples: Due to the purpose of this course and it's intentional form of discernment, we ask that dating couples participate in this 8-week course together. Dating couples will be placed in the same small group.
The cost to participate is $25 per person. We ask that participants commit to the 8 weeks, as each week's discussion builds upon one another. In order to maintain continuity and loyalty to the small group, we will not allow drop in sessions. Each person participating in this course must fill out a separate form.
